Born in Flint, Michigan of Lebanese and Greek parents.

A prodigy, she began winning awards at age six. At age 10, she appeared in the Oregonian front page with her unusual window painting on parchment of the Madonna, Christ child, and angels. At age 12, her complex historical painting of “cavalcade of America” was printed in the Oregon journal. In Lincoln high school, she painted a sports mural for the gymnasium, graduating at 16.

At age 19, she received B.A. degree, magna cum laude, from Lewis and Clark college in Portland, OR. She taught French, art and piano at St. Helen‘s Hall, for one year. She graduated from university of Washington with a master of fine arts degree. Her thesis was an innovative visual opera, “Pelleas and Melisande”. Teaching art at Lewis and Clark college , she was promoted to assistant professor , the  same year that she won a Woolley fellowship to study one year at Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris, France… from 1959-60. During this same period, she worked for Boeing aircraft doing top secret engineering drawings in aerodynamics.

In early 1960’s Asmar traveled to many countries in Europe and the Middle East. Setting up her studio in southern California, she divided her time between teaching, illustrating for Los Angeles Times, engraving  for Nambe Mills in New Mexico, creating lithographic editions for publishers in New York, serving 16 years on Burbank committee, “Art In Public Places ”, and active in hundreds of group and solo exhibits in parks, fairs, department stores, libraries, colleges, galleries, and museums in the World .

In the 1970’s, Asmar painted southwestern scenes and ceremonial dances of many... Pueblo, Apache and Navaho Indians. Her lithographs of the Indians are in a permanent collection at the National Museum of American history in the Smithsonian Institution, Washington, D.C.

In 1980’s, murals of the French coast were commissioned by Glendale Saving and Loan, and a large mural of Los Angeles for Dr. Jayasinghi of Sri Lanka.

In 1991, Asmar was chosen for a prestigious honorary membership in the National League of American Pen Women, Washington, D.C. Only 3 such honors are given each year in the country.

2008—Asmar worked with art exchange and timothy fine arts on several group shows were held in Highpoint, Las Vegas, Dallas, Atlanta, Los Angeles, Seattle and 2 in New York . Asmar was in a charity show and a fund raising auction at City of Hope National Medical Center, Duarte, California.
